The king of the LEC is back.
A new year heralds new rosters.
The 2022 League of Legends European Championship (LEC) Spring Split will begin on January 14, welcoming new kids on the block like Victor “Flakked” Lirola in G2 Esports, and familiar faces like Team Vitality mid lanerLuka “Perkz” Perković, who had spent a year in LCS.
Here are the full rosters that’ll take to the Rift in the 2022 LEC Spring Split.
Full roster of every team competing in the 2022 LEC Spring Split
Astralis
After the departure of mid laner Carl Felix “MagiFelix” Boström, the Danish organization brought in Oliver “Dajor” Ryppa, who previously made a splash with Fnatic’s academy roster at the EU Masters grand final last year.
Bot laner veteran Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup has also joined from Misfits Gaming. Astralis will aim to reach the playoffs for the first time in history during the 2022 LEC Spring Split.
Team BDS
At the end of 2021, Schalke 04 Esports’s LEC spot was bought over by Geneva-based org Team BDS that previously competed in the France national league.
Of the 5 players that competed with S04 last year, only mid laner Ilias “NUCLEARINT” Bizriken and support Dino “LIMIT” Tot were re-signed to LEC squad for the 2022 LEC Spring Split
Team BDS’ most high-profile acquisition was top laner Adam “Adam” Maanane, who exited from Fnatic after Worlds 2021.
Meanwhile, Jakub “Cinkrof” Rokicki and Matthew Charles “xMatty” Coombs have transferred from popular French org Karmine Corp, who took home both 2021 EU Masters titles. Adam had competed alongside both of them in Spring last season.
Excel Esports
Excel made just one change from last summer, adding top laner Finn “Finn” Wiestål, who returned from a sojourn in North America with Counter Logic Gaming.
Fnatic
After G2 Esports decided to rebuild their player roster, Martin “Wunder” Nordahl Hansen made his way to Fnatic to replace Adam.
Joining him are jungler Iván “Razork” Martín Díaz from Misfits and mid laner Marek “Humanoid” Brázda, formerly of MAD Lions. The latter replaces Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer, who will remain with Fnatic as a sub and content creator.
G2 Esports
The 2019 Worlds finalists shockingly missed Worlds last year despite boasting a star-studded roster which includedMartin “Rekkles” Larsson, prompting arebuild where only jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski and Rasmus “caPs” Borregaard Winther remained.
Former Schalke 04 top laner Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik will fill the shoes of Wunder. Victor “Flakked” Lirola and Raphaël “Targamas” Crabbé arrive from MAD Lions Madrid and Karmine Corp to fulfill the bot lane and support role.
Support playerMihael “Mikyx” Mehlewill remain under contract as a substitute for the 2022 LEC Spring Split.
MAD Lions
MAD Lionsmade just two changes to the lineup that won the2021 LEC Summer Splitand made the top eight atWorlds 2021, adding mid laner Steven “Reeker” Chen and bot laner William “UNF0RGIVEN” Nieminen. Both of them have prior experience in the German European Regional League (ERL) circuit.
Misfits Gaming
Banking on youth over experience, Misfits Gaming promoted jungler Lucjan “Shlatan” Ahmad from their academy squad, making the 2022 LEC Spring Split his first LEC season as a starter.
Joining him is support Mertai “Mersa” Sari who rose from the ERL scene with GamersOrigin.
Former bot laner Matúš “Neon” Jakubčík has also rejoined from Schalke 04 for the 2022 LEC Spring Split after a stint with Misfits in 2019.
Rogue
After the departure of star junglerKacper “Inspired” Słomaand Steven “Hans sama” Liv, both of whom moved to the LCS, the 2021 Worlds representative decided to import jungler Kim “Malrang” Geun-seong from Korea.
The second new face, bot laner Markos “Comp” Stamkopoulos, arrives from Team Vitality for the 2022 LEC Spring Split. He initially started in the Spring Split, but became a substitute after Juš “Crownshot” Marušič joined the team.
SK Gaming
Support Erik “Treatz” Wessén returns to his original role after filling in as a jungler during the 2021 LEC Summer Split.
Team Vitality
Team Vitalitysplashed their cash in the off-season to sign Perkz fromCloud 9.
He brings with him former Team Liquid top laner Barney “Alphari” Morris and MAD Lions bot lanerMatyáš “Carzzy” Orság.
Together with jungler Oskar “Selfmade” Boderek and support Labros “Labrov” Papoutsakis, Team Vitality is looking like a team that might upset the established order during the 2022 LEC Spring Split.
