Atlanta FaZe beats greatest rivals to win CDL 2024 Major 2

Atlanta FaZe claim victory in theCall of Duty League Stage 2 Major(CDL 2024 Major 2) with a 4-1 win over OpTic Texas in the grand final at the Broward Country Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

It is their first major championship win of the year after coming in second in CDL 2024 Major 1 against Toronto Ultra.

This time around, they managed to secure victory in every series in the upper bracket, facing particularly tight matches against the Los Angeles Thieves and New York Subliners.

Atlanta FaZe complete their championship run with a 4-1 win against OpTic Texas

Securing third place in the qualifiers, Atlanta Faze encountered formidable opponents in the upper bracket but triumphed in every match, edging out Los Angeles Thieves and New York Subliners with close 3-2 victories to clinch their place in the grand finals.

In the grand finals, their adversaries, OpTic Texas, who were the leading seed from the qualifiers, achieved a clean 3-0 sweep against the Miami Heretics and then overcame the champions of CDL Major 1, Toronto Ultra, with a 3-1 victory, setting the stage for a showdown with Atlanta FaZe.

Starting off with a nail-biting Hardpoint match on Karachi, Atlanta FaZe clinched their first win with Chris “Simp” Lehr leading the charge by notching an impressive 35 kills and recording the fewest deaths in the game.

OpTic Texas managed to draw even in the subsequent round by clinching a close 6-5 victory in Search and Destroy on Terminal against Atlanta FaZe, tying the series.

But this was OpTic Texas’s only win in the grand finals, for Atlanta FaZe went on to dominate the next three matches.

They secured wins with a 3-2 in Control on Invasion, a 250-227 victory in Hardpoint on Skidrow, and wrapped up with a 6-4 win in Search and Destroy on Rio, thereby securing the championship title.

Chris “Simp” Lehr emerged as the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of Major 2 after a dominant and steadfast performance throughout the tournament.

OpTic Texas was awarded US$120,000 and 75 CDL Points for their runner-up finish.
