Dota Pro Circuit 2021-2022 Winter Major canceled due to travel restrictions
Points will be redistributed to the next two Majors.
Updated at January 13, 11 a.m. (GMT +8): Valve has provided an update regarding the canceled major, saying they are trying to get everyone in one location to play out the tournament on LAN, according to Team Secret director Matthew “CyborgMatt” Bailey on Twitter.
Dota 2’s first Major of the year has been canceled due to “the discovery and spread of new strains of COVID-19 and the resulting increase of travel restrictions.”
The Dota Pro Circuit 2021-2022 Winter Major will not be able to proceed as a LAN event, Valve announced today.
As a result, Tour 1 will end following the conclusion of all Dota Pro Circuit regional tournaments.

To make up for there being no Dota 2 Major in Tour 1, points earned from the tournaments will be redistributed to the second and third Major as follows:
Major 2:1st Place – 520 Points2nd Place – 310 Points3rd Place – 210 Points4th Place – 105 Points5th Place – 52 Points
Major 3:1st Place – 680 Points2nd Place – 410 Points3rd Place – 270 Points4th Place – 135 Points5th Place – 68 Points
Valve said it’ll monitor the international travel situation for future Majors.

In an update on January 13 posted by Cyborgmatt, Valve said it canceled the event due to “a number of factors, some related to Omicron, some related to travel issues for competitors during Omicron, and some related to the willingness for tournament organizers to run the event.”
They acknowledged that Valve should have kept everyone in the loop about the event’s risks and apologized.
“We’re working on a plan to see if we can get everyone together in one location and play out the tournament on a LAN,” Valve also noted.
