Exclusive: ONIC Kairi explains the real reason why Filipino players have found great success in MPL Indonesia

Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsolhas earned numerous achievements in theMobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Indonesia (MPL ID).
Together with ONIC Esports, the Filipino MLBB star player achieved ahistoric three-peat in MPL IDafter defeating Geek Fam in the Season 12 grand final.
Moreover, he has received two Regular Season and one Finals MVP award since coming to the league in Season 10.
Kairi is just one of the Filipino professionals who are gaining recognition on the biggest stage of Indonesian MLBB.
Geek Fam’s roamerAllen “Baloyskie” Baloyand gold laner Mark Christian “Markyyyyy” Capacio have been pivotal in the squad’s rise to becoming title contenders. Additionally, ONIC’s head coach Denver “Yeb” Miranda has played a huge role in the team’s recent dominance.
In an exclusive interview with ONE Esports, Kairi shared his thoughts on why Filipinos succeed overseas, especially in MPL ID.
It’s not just about game mechanics, according to Kairi
The phenomenal jungler claimed that Filipinos perform exceptionally well in MPL ID not only due to their individual skills in playingMobile Legends.
“I think the reason why Filipinos are successful in Indonesia is we have a different way of thinking about MLBB,” he said.
“I don’t think it’s just about the mechanics, but we’re really thinking about how to win when we compete,” he added.
However, the former member of M2 World Championship runner-up ONIC PH admitted that the Indonesians are now catching up with Filipinos.
MPL PH pros are known for their outstanding macro strategy, which won them the last three world championship tournaments and other international events.
“Now, the playstyles of Indonesia and the Philippines are almost the same because the teams here are starting to focus on honing their macro skills,” Kairi said.
“We can see that Indonesian teams are now starting to focus on macro compared to the previous seasons.”
