You won’t believe how much Nathzz spent to amass his spider collection

Nathzz’s childhood fascination with spiders saw a surprising revival.

The spider-collecting journey kicked off when Arvie “Aqua” Antonio proposed the idea during a boot camp. Intrigued by the notion, they embarked on a mission to purchase these arachnids online.

“I joined a lot of spider-related groups just to find places where I can buy them,” he shared.

His initial purchase consisted of a staggering 150 small spiders.

Unsatisfied, he sought out more expensive spiders priced at PHP150 each (around US$2), leading to a total expenditure of around PHP5,000 (approximately US$90).

As for his preferred species, he mentioned a fondness for small orb weavers.

While his teammates appreciated the added company, their coach, Brian “Panda” Lim, and manager Lexie, weren’t quite as enthusiastic.

“I always frighten my coach and he gets scared all the time,” he said with a grin.

However, all good things must come to an end. Before MPLI 2023, he had to make a tough decision to release all of them in the wild.

“No one will take care of them because no one will feed and care for them while we’re gone for a week” he explained.

As for whether he plans to resume collecting, Nathzz expressed contentment with his brief stint and shared that he has no intentions of reviving the hobby.

Nevertheless, he expressed a sentimental attachment, noting that these creatures will always hold a special place in his heart.
