Faker didn’t graduate, yet still dreams of being the most popular kid from high school

Faker shares his thoughts on the NA region, DRX Deft, and coach Bengi
The T1 mid laner touched on the organization’s move to promoteBengi to interim head coachahead of Worlds 2022. Bengi played as a jungler alongside Faker during the team’s three world championship victories (2013, 2015, 2016), making them the only two players in history with such an achievement.
He has only has ever won Worlds with Bengi by his side, and therefore considers him a “lucky charm” that will help the team succeed at the championship final this weekend.
The LoL veteran will face longtime rival and DRX bot lanerKim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu. The two actually went to the same high school, Mapo High School, and began their pro career at around the same time in 2013.
When asked about the friendly rivalry, Faker replied, “I actually didn’t graduate from there, but I will do my best to become the most popular person from the Mapo area.”
Having spent the past month grinding matches in the NA region, he shared his hopes for the future of the LCS. At this year’s competition, all three LCS representatives were eliminated in the Group Stage.
“I really wish the LCS could become the best region in the world. I’ve been playing a lot of NA solo queue and it’s harder than Worlds. I think it’s going to happen next year,” he said.
T1 will face DRX in the Worlds final on November 5, 5 p.m. PT | November 6, 12 a.m. GMT | 8 a.m. GMT+8.
