First 3 pros to hit Grandmaster on Korean ladder are all from Evil Geniuses
A promising start.
11 Spring champions from various regions have arrived in Busan, South Korea for Riot Games’ annual Mid-Season Invitational (MSI 2022).
Using allocated accounts from Riot Games, these pro players practice on the local South Korean ranked ladder, widely regarded as thetoughest to climb. A true test of skill, it pits high Elo solo queue players, one-trick ponies,LCK, andLPLpros against each other all on one server.
Now that pros from other regions like the LCS and LEC have also started their climb, the ladder is more stacked than ever. In just a few days, however, three players participating in MSI have already hit Grandmaster — and they’re all from Evil Geniuses.
These 3 Evil Geniuses pro players are wrecking the Korean solo queue ranked ladder
At the time of writing, EG bot lanerKyle “Danny” Sakamaki, mid lanerJoseph Joon “jojopyun” Pyun, and substitute bot laner Muhammed Hasan “Kaori” Şentürk have all reached Grandmaster.
They are the only three players using the newly-created accounts to hit this rank so far, which sits just one tier below Challenger.
Kaori has played the most games (146), likely because he’s not as active in scrims. Despite this, Danny still places above him, making every game count with a high 73.8% win rate. His most-played champion is Samira (12 games, 83% win rate), followed byZeri(10 games, 70% win rate), the AD carry he got a pentakill with during the LCS Spring Split.
17-year-old star rookie jojopyun, who finished first in the opening split ofChampions Queuewith an overall 62.4% win rate, is not far behind at 334 LP. His most-played champion Le Blanc (21 games, 71% win rate) is also one of his best, followed by Ahri (13 games, 85% win rate).
Another 13 pro players, including G2 Esports mid lanerRasmus “caPs” Borregaard Winther, Saigon Buffalo Esports support Đinh “Taki” Anh Tài and bot laner Nguyễn “Shogun” Văn Huy, as well as other members of Evil Geniuses, have also hit Master.
