Following the 2017 live-action adaptation ofFullmetal Alchemist, the Elric brothers return in 2022 with two new entries in the franchise.

The first film, Final Chapter – The Avenger Scar, introduces the alchemist killer Scar as an antagonist, while the second film, The Final Chapter – The Final Transmutation, will feature the story’s final battle.

Ryosuke Yamada as Edward Elric

Ryosuke Yamada will be reprising his role as the Fullmetal Alchemist himself, Edward Elric. The Japanese actor recently starred in the kaiju comedy “What to Do with the Dead Kaiju?” and the samurai epic “Baragaki: Unbroken Samurai”.

Atomu Mizuishi as Alphonse Elric’s voice actor

Atomu Mizuishi will return as the voice of Edward’s armor-clad brother, Alphonse Elric.

Outside of the live-action franchise, Mizuishi has been building his acting portfolio with crime films, “Liar! Uncover the Truth” and Yaru Onna: She’s a Killer”.

Tsubasa Honda as Winry Rockbell

With more Fullmetal Alchemist action, fans can expect Tsubasa Honda to come back as Winry Rockbell, the go-to automail mechanic and love interest of Edward.

Aside from her recurring role as An Amakasu in the doctor-drama “Radiation House”, she also voiced Natsumi Suga in the romance anime film “Weathering with You”.

Mackenyu Arata as Scar

A fresh face in the live-action franchise, Mackenyu Arata will play Scar, an Ishvalan vigilante who’s out to kill State Alchemists for their war crimes against Ishval.

Mackenyu is no stranger to live-action adaptations, and will play Roronoa Zoro inNetflix’s upcoming show “One Piece”.

Hiroshi Tachi as King Bradley

With mustache and eyepatch on fleek, Hiroshi Tachi brings antagonist Fuhrer King Bradley to life.

When it comes to conspiracies and killers, Tachi is your man. He starred in the war film “The Great War of Archimedes” and voiced elite assassin Duke Togo in the “Golgo 13” anime.

Kanata Hongo as Envy

With the second film capturing the series’ final battle, Kanata Hongo is set to make a return as the malevolent homunculus, Envy.

The actor has a stacked filmography of live-action anime films, appearing in “Kingdom”, “Gantz”, and theAttack on Titanmovies.

Keisuke Watanabe as Ling Yao

Keisuke Watanabe enters the franchise as Ling Yao, a debonair prince who’s looking to get his hands on the Philosopher’s Stone.

While he’s known as Woz from “Kamen Rider Zi-O”, he recently showcased his charm in the romance drama “My Fair Prince”.

Yuki Yamada as Solf J. Kimblee

With Scar now in the story, Yuki Yamada joins the cast as Solf J. Kimblee, his sworn nemesis. Nicknamed the Crimson Alchemist, Kimblee abused his powers during the Ishval Civil War.

Fans will recognize him from live-action anime films like “Tokyo Revengers” as Ken “Draken” Ryuguji.

Seiyo Uchino as Van Hohenheim

Seiyo Uchino joins Fullmetal Alchemist as Van Hohenheim, the estranged father of the Elric brothers. While not much is known about him, Hohenheim enters the story to finally make things right for his boys and fight against Father, the creator of the homunculi.

Interestingly enough, Uchino recently played a telepathic protagonist in the film “Homunculus”.

Dean Fujioka as Roy Mustang

Dean Fujioka will light up the battlefield once again as Flame Alchemist Roy Mustang. Fujioka recently played a downtrodden action star in the 2022 movie “Pure Japanese”.

Chiaki Kuriyama as Olivier Mira Armstrong

Kill Bill star Chiaki Kuriyama will be appearing in the movie as Olivier Mira Armstrong, the older sister of Alex Louis Armstrong. Chiaki also appeared in other films like Battle Royale.

Release dates of Fullmetal Alchemist live-action 2022

The Fullmetal Alchemist live-action films were released in summer 2022, with The Avenger Scar premiering in Japan on May 20 and The Final Transmutation on June 24.
