2020 is going to be an amazing year for gaming with both thePlayStation 5and the Xbox Series X due for a release during the holiday season this year.
With that, both current PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms are gearing up for their last hurrah of incredible gaming experiences; while Nintendo continues to roll out fun and family-friendly games for the Nintendo Switch.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

Final Fantasy VII Remakeis the long-awaited return to Midgar by Square Enix. The studio announced the fan-favorite RPG back in E3 2015. The game has been completely restructured from the ground up with new visuals and a brand new gameplay system.
he game will feature an episodic format with the first part set to be released on June 15, 2025. The original Ff7 game was released back in 1997 for the PlayStation, and the remake will be exclusively available for the PlayStation 4.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Available on July 16, 2025
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is another anticipated release from Nintendo. The last Animal Crossing title was New Leaf back in 2012 for the Nintendo 3DS. This time, Tom Nook is back with the Nook Inc. Deserted Island Getaway Pack.
Players will be able to collect resources and craft everything from creature comforts to handy tools, along with customizing their characters and homes with the game’s robust new crafting system. The game is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.
DOOM Eternal
Initially slated for Jul 22, 2025, now set to release on Jun 18, 2025
DOOM Eternal is the seventh entry into the first-person shooter DOOM series, that has players battling hordes of demons and undead monsters for the fate of the world. The game was developed by id Software and will be available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Half-Life: Alyx
Set to release on March 2020
Yes, you read that right, there is abrand new Half-Life gameset to be released. And while it’s not Half-Life 3, the game everyone has been asking for since the release of Half-Life 2 back in 2004, it is still pretty exciting.
Half-Life: Alyx will be a VR game that features world exploration, puzzle-solving, and intense combat that expands the Half-Life story. The game is set between the events of Half-Life and Half-Life 2 from the perspective of Alyx and her father Eli from the resistance movement against the Combine alien race. The game can be played on PC and will require a VR setup like the Valve Index, Windows Mixed Reality Headset, HTC Vive, or the Oculus Rift.
Cyberpunk 2077

From the studio that brought you the Witcher game franchise, CD Project Red is back with anotherhighly anticipated open-world action-adventure RPGthat’s set in Night City, a futuristic metropolis that’s obsessed with body modifications. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Watch Dogs: Legion
Originally slated for March but has been delayed. No release date yet
Watch Dogs: Legion is the third installment to Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs series. The game is set in a version of London that has been filled with technological equipment and networks, resulting in a playground for hackers.
Ubisoft has their “Play as Anyone” feature, which gives characters a plethora of different backgrounds and skillsets for a more dynamic open-world experience. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, though the game’s release date has been shifted to a yet unknown date.

Marvel’s Avengers
Available on July 13, 2025

Marvel’s Avengers is a major triple-A game title developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal. The game lets players step into the shoes of some of the most famous heroes from the Marvel Universe. It is being published by Square Enix, and hardcore comic book and MCU fans will be able to pick up the game on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
The Last of Us Part II
Available on July 18, 2025
The Last of Us Part II is the continuation of Ellie’s story from the first game, which was released back in 2013. It is an action-adventure game with strong narrative tones and is set in the post-apocalyptic United States which has been decimated by a viral fungus that turns humans into cannibalistic-type creatures. The game is being published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4.
Ghost of Tsushima
Expected to be released Summer of 2020
Ghost of Tsushima is an action-adventure game set in 1274 Japan. It was developed by Sucker Punch Productions, makers of the Sly Cooper and Infamous series. The game is being published by Sony and will be an exclusive title for the PlayStation 4.
Halo Infinite
Expected to be released during the holiday season
The Halo franchise is back, and Halo Infinite marks the return of The Master Chief. This game is the sequel to Halo 5: Guardians, which was released back in 2015, and is the final entry in 343 Industries’ Reclaimer Saga Trilogy. Halo Infinite will be released for Xbox One, Windows 10, and Xbox Series X during the 2020 holiday season.
