RRQ Hoshi defeat EVOS Legends to win MPL ID Season 5
RRQ Hoshi has defeated defending champions EVOS Legendsin the Grand Final of MPL ID Season 5.
The Grand Final was a thrilling five-game series that went back and forth, eventually coming down to the very last game.
In game five, with their entire season on the line, RRQ gambled on a highly aggressive strat led by Vyn on Selena. It paid off immediately, however, as Vyn and three team mates crashed the mid-tower early with Joshua “LJ” Darmansyah grabbing a well-deserved triple-kill.
Pressing their advantage, RRQ continued to push the mid lane, and at the tenth minute took the Lord and looked to end the series with a big push.
With LJ rushing in and tanking most of EVOs’ damage, RRQ marksman Xin was able to eliminate four EVOS players in the back-line, earning himself a maniac killing spree. With no one left to defend, RRQ easily took down the EVO base for the final time, cementing their place in history as the first-ever two-time MPL ID champions.
Devin Booker wins the NBA 2K Players Tournament
Phoenix Suns guard, Devin Booker, has won the NBA 2K Players Tournament with a 2-0 series sweep over real-life teammate Deandre Ayton.
The All-Star received a US$100,000 prize to donate to his charity of choice, as well as bragging rights of being the NBA’s best NBA 2K player. On the way to the title, Booker beat the Denver Nuggets’ Michael Porter Jr., Washington Wizards’ Rui Hachimura, and Los Angeles Clippers’ Montrezl Harrell.
Team Shroud wins the 100 Thieves Valorant Invitational
Esports organization, 100 Thieves,hosted an Invitational Valorant tournament last week, featuring eight teams packed with famous streamers and ex-CS:GO pros.
After being upset by Timothy “TimTheTatman” Betar’s squad in the first match of the group stage, Mike “Shroud” Grzesiek’s Team Shroud went on an undefeated streak to win the entire tournament, getting his revenge on TimTheTatman in the final.
Ex-CS:GO pro and current T1 Valorant pro player, Keven “AZK” Lariviere, won the final in style for Team Shroud, scoring four kills to clutch out the final round of the match with a fraction of a second left to spare.
This is how eStar took a team of Development League players to the top of the LPL
The biggest surprise of the LPL Spring Split so far has been eStar, the giant-slaying team of rookies plucked from the Development League who upset reigning world champions FunPlus Phoenix in Week 1, and swept 2018 world champions, Invictus Gaming, in Week 4.
eStar has been in the top three of the leaderboard for the entire season and, with an 11-5 record, will receive an automatic bye to the quarterfinals of the LPL playoffs, which start this week.
