In the character reveal trailer released by NetherRealms, the vampire is shown using her claws, fangs, and ability of flight to annihilate her enemies. At the same time, the actress shared her insights on being “part of one of the greatest video game legacies of all time”.

Because the character is being reintroduced with a design based on Fox, the actress couldn’t help but feel like she’s in the game herself. “It’s cool to be in the game. Because I’m not really just voicing it. It’ll be like, she’s kind of me,” said Fox.

The actress also claims that although the role has somehow pushed her in certain ways, she really enjoyed the sessions. “It does force me to tap into areas of myself that I’m not comfortable,” shared the actress. “I’ve had a lot of fun doing it, and it’s caused me to be more free with myself.”

In addition, some of Nitara’s lines contain nods to Fox’s previous work. In a face off against Kung Lao, the shaolin monk asked the vampire, “What did you do with Jen’s body?”, a reference to the 2009 film Jennifer’s Body where Fox took on the lead role.
