RSG SG completes redemption arc with commanding MPL SG Season 3 victory
Bow down to the new champs.
After two consecutive seasons finishing second, losing to EVOS SG both times, RSG SG finally broke the curse at theMobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional LeagueSingapore Season 3 (MPL SG Season 3) grand final.
Facing EVOS SG for the third time in the grand final, RSG took down the white tigers 4-1 to become Singapore’s best Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team this season.
RSG SG’s run at the MPL SG Season 3 playoffs
EVOS SG and RSG SG first faced off in the upper bracket final, in which the former advanced to the grand final after a 2-1 victory.
RSG then clawed their way in the lower bracket final against Team Flash, narrowly winning the series in a 3-2 thriller.
In the grand final, EVOS SG opened game one with a commanding 16-3 kill score as Adam “Adammir” Chong led the charge with a 7/0/3 onBeatrix.
Instead of banning Beatrix, Adammir’s comfort pick, RSG instead drafted Franco for Bellamy “Lolsie” Yeov to counter the marksman hero in game two. It was a success, as Lolsie’sFrancopeeled heavily for Jovan “babycakes” Ong’s Karrie, the team’s main damage dealer, forcing Adammir and the rest of the squad to play passively.
Despite EVOS SG trailing all throughout game two, they put up a good defense. However, a four-man EVOS SG wipeout at the 25 minute mark ultimately sealed the deal as RSG SG evened out the series, 1-1.
It was Yeo Wee “Diablo” Lun’s Uranus and babycakes’ Clint that carried RSG SG in the third game and fourth game with a combined KDA of 10/5/1, earning them match point in the series.
The final game was close for both teams, up until RSG Brayden “BRAYYY” Teo’sKarinastole the Evolved Lord from EVOS SG at the 13-minute mark, which was the final nail in the coffin that dashed EVOS SG’s three-peat championship hopes.
These two teams will represent Singapore at MSC 2022
RSG SG won US$30,000, the lion’s share of the US$100,000 prize pool, while EVOS SG will go home with US$15,000.
