Sentinels acquire Zellsis from V1 ahead of VCT NA LCQ

The game’s on.

North American organization Sentinels have announced that they have acquired Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro fromVersion1, just a few days after the blockbuster signing of former CS:GO pro and superstar streamerMichael “Shroud” Grzesiek.

The Version1 star will join the boys in red for the remainder of the VCT 2022 season, debuting with Sentinels in the VCT North America Last Chance Qualifier in August.

Zellsis attendedMasters Reykjavik 2021with Version1, finishing in 5th to 6th place. The flex player will replaceEric “Kanpeki” Xuon the team,Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khanconfirmed on stream.

Kanpeki joined Sentinels in late April, in place of longtime member Jared “zombs” Gitlin. However, the team were eventually unable to make it out of theVCT NA Stage 2 Challengers group stage, notching a dismal 0-5 record.

Despite missing out on both Masters events in the VCT 2022 season, Sentinels earned enough VCT circuit points to qualify for the upcoming VCT NA LCQ, alongsideThe Guard,FaZe Clan,Cloud9,Shopify Rebellion,NRG Esports,100 Thieves, andEvil Geniuses.

Newcomers Shroud and Zellsis will joinMasters Reykjavik 2021championship trio ShahZaM,Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, andMichael “dapr” Gulinoas they look to qualify forValorant Champions Istanbul.

Hunter “SicK” Mimswill not be returning to Sentinels’ active roster yet, after stepping back from the game in the middle of Stage 2 due to an undisclosed family emergency.

The team will be bootcamping together as they prepare for the LCQ in August.

Shroud and company will face The Guard in the first round of the NA LCQ, according to Dot Esports’ George Geddes.

The LCQ is their last chance to advance to Champions in September, which will feature 16 teams instead of the usual 12 at previous Masters events. Teams are also expected to be informed around then if they havesecured a spotin thenew partnered leaguesin the 2023 season.
