Sentinels make first Valorant roster change midway through VCT Americas season

A fresh start.

Sentinels, the renowned North American Valorant team, has made a surprising move by parting ways with their head coach, Don “SyykoNT” Muir, just three weeks into the VCT Americas regular season.

The team’s analyst, Adam “itskaplan” Kaplan, will be stepping up to replace him as the new head coach, according to Sentinels CEO Rob Moore.

Syykowas a vital part of the Sentinels’ roster rebuild during the offseason period leading up to VCT Americas.

He joined the team in 2022 and made his intentions clear — building aValorant superteamthat would compete for international trophies. In addition, he brought in two of his former XSET players,Zachary “zekken” Patrone and Rory “dephh” Jackson, to strengthen the team’s lineup.

Sentinels had a rocky start to the season, suffering an early elimination loss to the eventual champions of VCT LOCK//IN, European squad Fnatic.

They managed to bounce back in the opening week of the regular season, defeating 100 Thieves 2-1 in their VCT Americas debut. After that, however, the team has struggled to maintain that momentum, suffering back-to-back losses to NRG Esports and Leviatán in the second and third weeks of group-stage play.

With the team tallying a 1-2 record, Moore announced a sudden change in leadership, with Syyko no longer coaching the roster.

Although the exact reason for the decision to part ways with Syyko is unknown, Sentinels will be hoping that the roster change can reignite their season and improve their performances in the coming weeks.

Sentinels still have three more weeks and six matches left to play in VCT Americas, which provides ample time for the team to turn their season around.

Itskaplan will have a big task ahead of him to get the team back on track. His first test will be against LOUD, theValorant Champions 2022winning Brazilian squad thatGustavo “Sacy” Rossi and Bryan “pANcada” Lunaleft behind in favor of joining Sentinels.
