Team Liquid advances to the Lima Major with a perfect 6-0 record

They became the first Western European team to qualify for the Dota 2 Lima Major after Entity lost to OG 2-1 in the third week of the DPC WEU regional league.

Mathematically speaking, Liquid, OG, Tundra Esports, Gaimin Gladiators, and Entity were all still in the running to qualify for the Lima Major because it was possible for all teams to finish with a 5-2 score at the end of Tour 1.

However, Entity’s loss to OG dropped them to a 2-3 record. This meant that Liquid’s 5-0 record automatically advanced them to the Major. Despite already securing a spot in Peru, Liquid pushed forward against their week 3 opponents Gaimin Gladiators.

Liquid looked untouchable ingame one, with Gaimin Gladiators unable to get a kill on Michael “miCKe” Vu’s carry Monkey King andMichał “Nisha” Jankowski’s midlane Invoker. Gaimin Gladiators had no answers against Liquid and tapped out of the game after they fell behind 31-6 in total kills.

Gaimin Gladiators stunned Liquid ingame twowith a cheese Huskar pick. Quinn “Quinn” Callahan’s Huskar bullied Nisha’s Ember Spirit in the midlane and handed Liquid their first game loss of the Winter Tour.

In game three, Liquid gave Gaimin Gladiators a taste of their own medicine by going for an unconventional pick of their own. Liquid drafted a safelane Death Prophet that steamrolled Gaimin Gladiators. The final game of the series was even more one-sided for Liquid, finishing the game with a 39-9 team kill score.

Team Liquid is the first Western European team to qualify for the Lima Major. Team Aster was ahead of them, qualifying for the upcoming Major in Peru after getting their fifth straight win in the DPC China Tour 1 Division 1.

The Winter Tour in China also started ahead of all other regions because they had a long break after week 3 for the Lunar New Year.
