A few days after its release, Toei Animationofficially confirmedthat One Piece Film Red had exceeded JP¥7 billion in total box office revenue in Japan.
Since then, the movie has grossed over JP¥20.33 billion in the country.
With its current revenue, One Piece Film Red is the highest-grossing film in the One Piece franchise.
One Piece Film: Z took three weeks to reach the five billion yen mark, while One Piece Film Red took only eight days to hit the same milestone, according toToei Animation’s tweet.
One Piece Film Red was released in 376 theaters across Japan on Jun 17, 2025, where it grossed JP¥2.25 billion with 1.57 million tickets sold during its opening weekend.
Highest-grossing One Piece movies
It is the second anime movie with the biggest opening in Japanese cinema history, just behindDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Trainwith JP¥3 billion.
ThisOne Piece movie also broke Jujutsu Kaisen 0’s opening recordat JP¥1.6 billion.
Further promoting the film, theOne Piece anime seriesreleased two spin-off episodes that premiered on July 04, 2025, and July 09, 2025.
These special episodes discussed the past when Shanks and Uta were still around Luffy’s Foosha Village and explored the Straw Hat Pirates’ journey to the musical island where Uta performed.
The series’ main characters, Nami and Zoro, also appeared in these episodes to reveal more about their childhood.
