Tier One CEO confirms interest in Blacklist Dota 2 and Valorant teams
Tryke wants to expand the Blacklist family.
CEO and co-founder of Tier One Entertainment, Tryke Gutierrez, has expressed his interest in expanding Tier One’s Blacklist esports division by forming Dota 2 and Valorant teams in the near future.
Tier One’s Blacklist International isn’t a stranger to success. Their Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team is a powerhouse squad in the Philippine esports scene that securedback-to-back championships in MPL PH Seasons 7 and 8, and finished second atMPLI 2021.

Tryke’s organization currently fields Blacklist International esports teams in MLBB, Legends of Runeterra, Call of Duty Mobile, Free Fire, and PUBG Mobile.
Even though MLBB is at the forefront of Philippines esports thanks to the rising popularity of competitive mobile games, the country’s passion for Dota 2 is still going strong even today.
FiveFilipino Dota 2 playerscompeted in this year’sThe International 10(TI10), where T1’s Carlo “Kuku” Palad and Karl “Karl” Baldovino finished in 7th-8th place.
TI10 also featured Fnatic’s Marc “Raven” Fausto and Djardel “DJ” Mampusti, along with Evil Geniuses’ Abed “Abed” Yusop who finished in 9th-12th place.
Another Filipino squad that is making a name for itself in the global esports scene isTeam Secret’s Valorant roster (formerlyBren Esports), who qualified to Riot Games’ upcomingValorant Champions 2021tournament.
The competitive FPS scene has long been dominated by the European and North American regions. Riot Games’ emphasis on making their competitive shooter a global esport has allowed organizations from Southeast Asia to have a shot at the international stage.
While Tier One made waves by acquiring top talents and streamers, Tryke is still dedicated to expanding their esports portfolio.
“What I’m dreaming of now is a Blacklist [Dota 2] team and a Valorant team,” said Tryke in a recent Tweet.
With the 2022 DPC and VCT seasons still a while away, Tryke and Tier One aim to form their new Dota 2 team and Valorant roster soon. Tryke is hoping to replicate the success of Tier One’s Blacklist International MLBB team as they venture further into the competitive esports scene.
