VCT Pacific League format changes for the 2024 season revealed
The Pacific League is growing.
The Valorant Champions Tour is kicking into high gear next year with VCT Pacific League format changes that introduce a full seasonal structure.
The announcement was made by the Head of Valorant Esports in APAC, Jake Sin, at theVCT Ascension Pacificpre-playoff press conference on July 5. Sin revealed there will be more than one Split next year.
Sin also confirmed that VCT pro team skins will be available next year.
VCT Pacific League format change for 2024 will have teams playing longer and earning more
The Valorant esports scene is shifting to a longer format next year, similar to League of Legends’ pro circuit.
“We want to continue to build the Pacific League into a sustainable ecosystem,” said Sin. “Not only will we have an additional team in the Pacific League, but we are also going to have more than one split, moving into a full seasonal structure.”
What Sin described sounds like League of Legends’ schedule with a Spring Split at the start of the season, followed by MSI. The Summer Split continues the season, and a League of Legends champion is crowned at the end of the season at Worlds.
This year’s Valorant season is shorter in comparison, with only one Split for the Pacific, Americas, and EMEA international leagues.
“The overall season will be longer,” said Sin. “As you recall, we had a pretty late start to the season because we were launching the VCT structure. We had to give teams and players ample time to relocate to set up their operations, which is, understandably, a difficult and arduous process.”
“We were only able to kick off the inaugural league in late March, and we replaced the first international league withVCT LOCK//IN,” he continued. “Instead, we’ll have a seasonal structure next year, starting with an international league split, so the calendar will look fuller.”
In addition to the longer season, Valorant fans can look forward to thePacific League-themed in-game itemsnext year.
