What happened during T1 versus HLE? In-game bugs and pauses explained
So… that happened.
T1 and Hanwha Life Esports opened Week 5 of the 2022LCKSummer Split yesterday and ran into a slew of unexpected technical difficulties, where T1 players encountered more than one in-game bug.
Game one ran smoothly, with T1 closing it out in a 32-minute victory headlined by Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok’s mid lane AP Seraphine.
Game two, however, saw pauses in the early game. T1 bot laner Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong flagged that he had the wrong runes equipped on Ashe due to a bug.
The issues continued into game three, where a referee pause and judgment ended in a chronobreak, which collectively resulted in long delays throughout the broadcast.

“So apparently Gumayusi has the wrong runes, but we didn’t recognize it early enough, so I don’t think we’re going to redo just because the game is already four minutes in,” English caster Max “Atlus” Anderson said on stream.

Why Gumayusi’s Ashe runes were perhaps not optimal in game two
In game two, T1 drafted Seraphine and Pantheon, two champions that can be flexed in mid and support. Against Azir in mid, however, Seraphine is the obvious choice, because Pantheon will get severely punished in lane against a long-range champion.
At the end of picks and bans, it was confirmed that support player Ryu “Keria” Min-seok was going to be playing Pantheon at bot.
This meant that Gumayusi would be runningsupport Ashe, which Keria first practiced in solo queue during the2022 Mid-Season Invitational. The Pantheon player would take the farm, while Ashe built support items.
Support Ashe typically runs Arcane Comet as her keystone rune, but recent pro builds put her on Hail of Blades, which can be procced by her Q, Ranger’s Focus. She starts with Spectral Sickle then buys Imperial Mandate as her Mythic item, and completes Manamune if the game hasn’t ended by then.
Support Ashe players never Lethal Tempo, as it isn’t compatible with her poke support build, which could be why Gumayusi flagged the bug. Only conventional AD carry players do, building marksmen items like Immortal Shieldbow and Rageblade that synergize with LT’s bonus attack speed.
